More than a dozen people were injured in Alto, Texas, when a tornado damaged a gym and school.

Four people were killed in Texas.

At least four people are dead after 14 tornadoes hit communities from eastern Texas to MS, with the local area "looking like a war zone". Franklin is located about 125 miles (200 kilometers) south of Dallas.

About 90 million people are under the gun for destructive weather Sunday, CNN meteorologist Haley Brink said. Another 19 were taken to hospitals, including two who were in critical condition. Some people had to be extricated from damaged dwellings.

At least eight people were killed over the weekend after several tornadoes touched down and flooding ensued across Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Georgia.

Police in Monroe County earlier described the destruction from the storm Saturday evening. Trees were down throughout the hilly city on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi.

A tornado with winds howling from 86 to 110 miles per hour touched down in Union County around 12:30 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service office at State College has confirmed.

But the majority of damaged remained in the Southern part of the U.S.

Officials said Carter Lumber Company sustained "extensive damage" and a boat was lifted off the ground. Trees were toppled and minor damage was reported in residential areas east of the campus.

ABC News went on to report that 150,000 customers have been left without power in Texas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana as a result of the storms. The 13-year-old boy drowned in a drainage area in West Monroe late Saturday afternoon, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office said.
