Cadillac has also revealed an XT6 crossover vehicle and has been hinting it will be releasing a future Escalade as well as a performance sedan in the near future. "It will represent the height of luxury and innovation while positioning Cadillac as the pinnacle of mobility".

Cadillac isn't saying anything in the way of names, prices or battery ranges, but we do know the brand has a product blitz coming in the next few years.

Cadillac president Steve Carlisle did say that it would be offered in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions and built on a platform that will spawn several other models.

The first-ever electric auto from Cadillac has been previewed ahead of its release in a few years time.

President said: "we don't have any chances left with taking Cadillac to a really new place". Though nothing else is yet revealed, it can be safe to assume that it will follow the Cadillac legacy and will be an SUV, or a crossover, albeit with a completely electric powertrain.

One interesting space to watch is the low cost or entry-level electric vehicles. Cadillac aims to launch a new vehicle every six months from now until 2021. Plus, the electric vehicle could be configured in front, rear, or all-wheel drive.

The electric Caddy is the first model derived from GM's future EV platform, as the brand readies itself for an "all-electric future".

GM says it is developing battery cells and drive units that can be used across different GM vehicle lineups across the globe.
