Bruce Arians Says Buccaneers Will Be 'Built Around' Jameis Winston

Arians, who was 49-30-1 in a five-year run in Arizona, would replace Dirk Koetter, who was sacked after two seasons as Tampa's head coach.

"I've spent the last couple days here trying to think of the word that explains how honored I am to be here to help introduce you guys here to Tampa", Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht said today.

Just because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a head coaching change entering 2019 doesn't mean they'll also make a quarterback change.

"Bruce Arians is one of the NFL's most well-respected coaches over the past two decades, and we are excited to have him leading our team". He's expected to turn around a franchise that has failed to make the playoffs since the 2007 season.

Tampa Bay hired Bruce Arians to replace Dirk Koetter as head coach, making Bowles a logical choice to serve as his defensive coordinator. Winston started the season with a three-game suspension over allegations he groped an Uber driver.

However, he has been quick to find employment, returning to Atlanta as their offensive coordinator in the latest round of hirings in the NFL. Now we will see if he can work the same magic with the Bucs that he did for the first three years he coached the Cardinals.

The 66-year-old Arians will not call offensive plays for the team, instead handing that responsibility to offensive coordinator/pass-game coordinator Byron Leftwich.

"Jameis Winston will be here", the GM said of the No. 1 overall pick from the 2015 draft, who's due to earn $20.92 million next season in the final year of his rookie contract. He has nurtured young quarterbacks such as Ben Roethlisberger and Carson Palmer into National Football League stars as both an offensive coordinator and head coach.
