At least eleven wounded in shooting at bar in southern California

Multiple people were reportedly injured after at least one gunman opened fire at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California, late Wednesday. We are still looking for the shooter.

Ventura County Sheriff's Office Captain Garo Kuredjian said at a news conference tonight a sheriff's deputy was also shot and taken to a hospital. Multiple people were wounded after a gunman fired multiple shots in Thousand Oaks.

He said the man set off smoke grenades inside before opening fire. Kuredjian said he could not confirm whether any of those shot were dead or the severity of their injuries.

"Ongoing active shooter incident reported at Borderline", the Ventura County Fire Department tweeted.

At 11:55pm, law enforcement reported that a California Highway Patrol officer had engaged a suspect and that a man matching the description was down with three gunshot wounds.

Borderline Bar & Grill is a western-style facility that hosts theme nights such as country, salsa and swing dancing.

Witnesses said many of those inside were college students.

According to the bar's website, a "College Country" night was going on at the time of the shooting.

Police told the Los Angeles Times at least 30 shots were fired. I ran out the front door.
