Ramos was charged Sunday with first-degree premeditated murder and is now being held in a juvenile detention center.

Gregory Logan Ramos murdered mother Gail Cleavenger, 46, in her own bed at their family home in Florida shortly after midnight on Friday last week.

Chitwood told the media Ramos, who was a member of a police explorers club in Orange City, came home from a group event at the fairgrounds Thursday and got into a "loud" and "contentious" argument with his mother over his grades, particularly a D he had received in one of his subjects. Ramos told police he later buried his mother beneath a fire pit and staged a burglary at the house with the help of two friends, who are also charged. Those friends, 17-year-olds Dylan Ceglarek and Brian Porras, are also in custody and facing multiple criminal charges.

Chitwood says he faces murder charges. The teen allegedly strangled her again, fatally this time.

The father was on a business trip in Seattle, WA, during the incident.

A teen has allegedly killed his mother after arguing over a bad school grade and buried her body at a church.

Volusia County Judge Angela Dempsey said the murder suspect will be "detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice in secure detention for 21 days or until further court order" and the two other juveniles were released to home detention to be tracked by ankle monitors, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported. Then, police said, the teen returned home from school Friday and placed a call to 911 at 3:52 p.m., reporting a break-in.

"He then got home and made his, in his own words, "Grammy-winning phone call to 911" to talk about this frightful incident that did not really occur", Chitwood said.

"As the investigation began, it became quite apparent that this was not an act of random violence, that in fact the 15-year-old probably had killed his mother", Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

After taking down Ramos's confession on Saturday, authorities went to the fire pit and exhumed Gail's body. I have a feeling this is a case we'll be hearing about for years.
