Red Dead Redemption 2 is a guaranteed success for Rockstar, especially with the game's online offering releasing next week.

And Jefferies analyst Timothy O'Shea told Barron's stronger sales bodes well for future add-on microtransaction revenue for Red Dead Online, which is the multiplayer portion of the game that launches in November.

It has been eight years since the makers of Grand Theft Auto released the first Western action-adventure game.

Of course, none of this guarantees that the adventures of the Van der Linde gang will come to the PC. To top it all off, the game also holds the title of the biggest entertainment launch of 2018. The game earned $725 million worldwide making it the biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has also confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 set new records on PlayStation Network for highest ever pre-orders, highest day-one sales, and highest sales for the first three days in market.

According to the publisher, it's the second-highest grossing entertainment launch of all time behind Grand Theft Auto V which brought in over $1 billion in its first three days.
