Xiaomi smartphone shipments to hit a milestone by October

Back when Xiaomi had launched the two new members of the Mi 8 Series, the company had mentioned it would actively launch the Mi 8 Lite and the Mi 8 Pro internationally as well.

The company is also allowing users to choose one of several sounds when opening the slider, such as swords clashing. There was a single 12MP rear-facing camera with Dual LED dual-tone flash and was accompanied by a 5MP front facing camera.

The setup comprises one Sony IMX363 wide-angle lens with f/1.8 aperture, 1.4um large pixels and Dual Pixel Autofocus, and one Samsung S5K3M3+ telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 1.0um pixels.

Talking the design first, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 flaunts slightly slimmer all around as compared to its predecessor.

To be available in China this coming November, its availability in Malaysia is not yet known for the time being. The phone also offers wireless charging, and Xiaomi is throwing in a 10W wireless charger in the box.

The Mi Mix 3 features a 6.4-inch OLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4% and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU packed with 6GB RAM/128GB ROM, 8GB RAM/128 or 256GB ROM, and 10GB RAM/512GB ROM. Oh, and it also lacks a headphone jack, but at least Xiaomi is still throwing in a USB-C adapter for that. A "Forbidden City Palace Museum" special edition with 10GB RAM/256GB ROM is priced at CNY4,999.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 got announced in Onyx Black, Jade Green, and Sapphire Blue color variants, while the phone comes in both 8GB and 10GB RAM options. The smartphone boasts a sliding-out camera system, which comes out above the bezel-less display. Its rear camera supports optical zoom and four-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and is capable of 960fps slow-motion video. There's a slider mechanism in between the two halves, so you can slide the screen down and the body up to reveal a new chunk of real-estate for the front camera.

Prices for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will range from 3,299 CNY ($474 USD) to $4,999 ($720 USD).

In the photography department, you get dual cameras at the back, a combination of 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors. The secondary 2M sensor captures depth information to facilitate an AI bokeh effect.

Xiaomi will have versions of the Mi Mix 3 with 6GB of RAM, 8GB of RAM and later this year a 10GB model.

Xiaomi has been sharing multiple teasers of its upcoming smartphone. The launch of the Mi Mix 3 shows Xiaomi too wants to build the hype around the blazing fast 5G speeds and nothing else. The phone will go on sale in China starting on November 1, while Xiaomi did not share the Mi MIX 3's global availability info just yet, but it will soon.
