In the weeks following the announcement that the Old Country for Old Men star would be playing the role, fans set their minds to developing various pieces of fan art imagining what his Joker would look like. However, filmmaker Todd Phillips (The Hangover trilogy) is about to change that with his origin movie about the insane clown, headlined by Joaquin Phoenix. Arthur is presumably the name of the Joker before he became the Joker.

The film is scheduled for release on October 4, 2019.

The only word Phillips included in the caption was "Arthur", which appears to confirm previous rumors that the Joker's real name will be Arthur Fleck in the film. But wouldn't it be the most Joker thing imaginable if the movie made Phoenix's role a bait-and-switch?

Better yet, we can see Arthur's penchant for mischief and perhaps his deranged mindset in Phoenix's performance.

The film, the first solo movie centred around the popular Batman villain, is being executive produced by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

Joker will re-imagine the world of Batman as an '80s crime film with a dark and gritty tone.
