Mouratoglou was interviewed by ESPN's Pam Shriver after Williams lost the US Open finals to Naomi Osaka on Saturday and pointed out the selective enforcement of the coaching violation by chair umpire Carlos Ramos.

Williams earned a point penalty Saturday for cracking her racket when broken for 3-2 in the second and subsequently was docked a game, to trail 5-3, for what Ramos deemed to be verbal abuse towards him.

Serena Williams' coach says chair umpire Carlos Ramos should have used better psychology instead of creating drama, because you "don't screw a Grand Slam final". "I've never cheated, and you owe me an apology", she yelled. It all dates back to 2004, when an incorrect call during a quarterfinal loss to Jennifer Capriati was cited as the main reason for the introduction of replay technology in tennis. "But when I hugged her at the net, I felt like a little kid again".

"You definitely can't go back in time", Williams said when asked if she would change anything about the match.

"It feels very emotional, I feel a bit happy and sad at the same time". Both of the Williams women joined King earlier this year in calling for the gender pay gap to be eliminated in all jobs. "I get the rules but I'm just saying that it's not right", Serena said to supervisor Brian Earley.

Osaka is probably the most prominent mixed-race Japanese female athlete to enter the limelight and playing Williams, who is 16 years her senior, in the U.S. Open final was a dream come true, she said.

Serena Williams has begun play in her 31st career Grand Slam final, and Naomi Osaka her first.

From 1-2 in the opening set there were three successive games with chances for both players but it was Osaka who won them all.

When a second code violation for racquet abuse was handed out to her - along with a point penalty for a second violation - Williams exploded. He's never taken a game from a man because they said "thief".

Here's what Mouratoglou said after the match about the double standard he and Williams believe she is held to.

The 20-year-old looked composed from the off, smiling shyly for the pre-match photos where her opponent looked grim-faced and tense.

"I know that everyone was cheering for her", Osaka told the crowd, "and Im sorry it had to end like this".

This was two of the candidates to take over the mantle from Williams when she does finally hang up her racket slugging it out on the biggest stage in the sport. Osaka's father paces the outer realms of the court, he doesn't watch the match, some carry prayer beads, some actually signal emergent strategy by sheer force of habit.

Williams whispered something to Osaka and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

"This is outrageous. I just feel like that I have to go through this (and) it is just an example for the next person that has emotions and who want to express themselves and want to be a strong woman". I shouldn't really think of her as my idol.

Just before the U.S. Open, the French tennis federation president said that the black catsuit worn this year by Williams at the French Open would not be allowed at that tournament in the future.
