The pair were later identified as 43-year-old Aileen and Aryana Pizarro, who was 12.

Witnesses told police the McLaren had been travelling at over 100 miles per hour (160km/h) at the time, and was driving southbound in a northbound lane on the Interstate 805 road.

Heitmann, 18, was driving a high-end 2014 McLaren sports auto the wrong way on Interstate 805 when he hit a Hyundai SUV Thursday afternoon, reports KSWB.

The San Diego Coroner confirmed that Heitmann was killed after crashing his vehicle while driving in the wrong direction, along with two others.

Sanchez said Heitmann was speeding on the highway when the crash happened.

Heitmann's YouTube account has more than 877,000 subscribers.

According to KSWB, Heitmann rose to prominence as a "skins trader" in the video game "Counter Strike: Global Offensive".

"I really am devastated that one person's actions could take my family away from me", mourned Dominic Pizarro, son of Aileen and brother of Aryana, according to NBC.

"Although Trevor Heitmann never used his real name or showed his face on his gaming channel, he showed off the black McLaren 650S he reportedly drove during his supposed suicide attempt, boasting that it could "[beat] just about every other top supercar" in a drag race. According to Polygon, Heitmann was probably best known for owning popular trading site CSGO Magic, a site that put him in the center of the game's skin trading community. The crash sparked a series of other collisions involving eight cars, two of which ended up in flames.

"I was anxious he was going to hit the two people standing at the gate", witness Alec Galloway told Fox 5 San Diego.

Fox 5 San Diego is also reporting that witnesses describe seeing a black sports auto smashing into a gate at a nearby elementary school and speeding off about 30 minutes before the crash.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver of a black sports auto slam through the gate, get out of the vehicle, smash a window on a school building and speed out of the campus parking lot.
