It wouldn't be surprising for the Real Time Ray Tracing to come to games since Nvidia is known for introducing new graphical/visuals features with the help of its GameWorks platform. Although, Nvidia's own USA website has already posted pictures and details of the new cards before the official announcement.

During its Gamescon press conference today, Nvidia introduced three new graphics cards, and one new piece of jargon you're going to have to get used to. We weren't able to see what settings the game was running at as the options screens were cut down in the build we were capturing, but GeForce Experience was capturing at the game resolution and the RTX footage we have is 1080p.

Nvidia has just taken the wraps off new graphics chips that offer a significant improvement in "ray tracing", or the process of representing light as pixels and accurately rendering what happens when it encounters virtual objects.

Nvida even says to more accurately judge the performance of new RTX cards, it had to create a new unit of measure called RTX OPS, which includes a combination of standard shader performance, floating point integer performance, ray tracing performance and AI performance. I was excited before - now I'm excited and really want an RTX card.

It revealed the GeForce RTX 2070 ($500 USD), RTX 2080 ($700), and RTX 2080 Ti ($1000), all of which will launch on September 20, 2018. We should mention that the NVIDIA Founders Editions of these cards will ship at $1,199, $799 and $599 respectively. With ray-tracing, an in-game graphics engine can depict light that will accurately bounce and diffuse across a room in a more realistic fashion. You can also pre-order the special "Founders Edition" of each card on Nvidia's site. A cheaper model, the RTX 2070, will be available for $499, but won't arrive until October. Second quarter revenues for several of its other business segments, including PC gaming, data centers and automotive, all beat estimates. The technology that most graphics solutions now use to create their model is called rasterization, and it simulates objects as a collection of polygons, works out the interaction between those shapes, and then turns that into pixels that get displayed on your screen.

"With the powerful Orion series gaming desktops, our new GeForce RTX GPUs provide consumers with an incredible gaming experience." said Tim Bender, Vice President of Consumer Sales at NVIDIA. The family is fleshed out with the GeForce RTX 2080 (2944 CUDA cores) and the GeForce RTX 2070 (2304 CUDA cores).
