Indianapolis to host 2026 Final Four

The NCAA on Monday afternoon released the Final Four sites for the next set of four years, with San Antonio, which by almost all accounts has been universally praised as a wonderful host city for the Final Four, earning its way back into the coveted rotation for the fifth time since 1998.

Although the Alamodome is 25 years old and doesn't have the bells and whistles of newer sports stadiums in the country, the NCAA couldn't pass up the opportunity to have another Final Four in San Antonio.

San Antonio gets the 2025 championship semifinals and final, marking the fifth time the Central Texas city has been the site of the Final Four. "We are thrilled for the cities of Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio and Indianapolis".

Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio and Indianapolis were chosen by the NCAA as the four hosts of the 2023-26 events, respectively.

The Final Four announcement came on Monday, live on the NCAA's Twitter page, less than two months after the National Football League awarded Super Bowl LVII to Arizona. ASU will serve as the host institution, as it did in 2017, when the state held its first Final Four. Only Kansas City, which was the site of 10 Final Fours from 1940-88, has been the site of more. The city is also scheduled to host them in 2021. "From their (NCAA) standpoint, there was no hesitation to say we're OK doing 2024 because they did it before (after the Super Bowl)". Critics, however, point to events being spread out through the Valley, Uber surge pricing, and the lack of Light Rail, something Glendale nixed again just previous year. Lucas Oil Stadium has hosted in 2010 and 2015. "We look forward to bringing the NCAA's marquee championship back to those locations".

The Final Four will be played in Minneapolis in 2019, Atlanta in 2020 and New Orleans in 2022. "That will only improve what already is good".

"The Final Four is coming back to where it belongs, in San Antonio".

Johnson wasn't keen about harping on Phoenix's past mega-event history. From there, Johnson said, staffing for the event will likely come around 2022 while they keep in constant communication for the NCAA.
