Big Mistake Or Deserving - Chelsea Fans Divided Over Antonio Conte Axing

Chelsea are set to officially announce the departure of Antonio Conte after a successful two years in charge.

Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit of Sarri as the Premier League season kicks off on August 11, but it doesn't mean he could end up in west London.

It has been widely expected that Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri would be Conte's replacement, although Chelsea have struggled to come to an agreement with the Serie A club over his release.

But now it seems a deal has finally been agreed with Sarri, meaning he will become the ninth full-time manager since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.

The club have refused to comment on the status of the 48-year-old, who won the Premier League title in his first season and the FA Cup in May.

He also clashed with senior players such as Diego Costa and David Luiz while others had begun to grow tired of his methods.

Conte, who is in his final year of the contract, will be paid £9 million severance package.

He tweeted: "Despite reports in Italy, Fabregas is not interested in a move to Napoli as any part of the deal to take Sarri and Jorginho to Chelsea".

However, the Blues finished outside the top four this past season and couldn't get bast Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. Sarri left the Italian club at the end of last term.

'We wish Antonio every success in his future career'.

Ironically, it was Conte who handed Jorginho, holder of Italian and Brazilian passports, his first worldwide cap for Italy in March 2016.

The former Juventus and Italy manager went on to lead the Blues to Premier League glory in his first season in charge, recording a then-record 30 wins along the way.
