The dog's owner, Megan Brainard, found the dog through a pet-finding site and she has now won $1,500 for Zsa Zsa's win.

On Saturday night, the 2018 World's Ugliest Dog competition brought together some of the ugliest dogs around, but only one could come away the victor: 9-year-old English bulldog Zsa Zsa.

Zsa Zsa herself is a rescue, according to her "adoptive parents", Megan and Jesse Brainard of Anoka, Minnesota.

Himisaboo, Chinese Crested and Dachshund mix, struts her stuff during the World's Ugliest Dog Contest.

Zsa Zsa bested a field of 15 dogs in total to win the World's Ugliest prize.

What sealed the deal with the judges and the crowd was her tongue, a funnel of saliva when she was carried to the stage by Brainard.

"We are so excited for this", Brainard told CNN of the new canine superstar (she's set to fly to NYC to appear on the Today show).

Last year a three-year old Neopolitan Mastiff named Martha took the crown. It took her family three days to drive out to Petaluma for the contest.
