FPJ's dream XI predictions for Poland and Colombia

Poland's hopes for play in the knockout round of the football World Cup in Russian Federation are over after being thrashed 0-3 by Colombia in the group stage on Sunday.

The result, coupled with Senegal's 2-2 draw with Japan, now means that all three teams including Colombia have a fair chance of qualifying from Group H.

Poland can not now catch either Japan or Senegal, who have four points from two games.

Yerry Mina nodded in James Rodriguez's cross shortly before half-time to put the South Americans ahead. "But we treat Colombia as a whole team, even if they have such a great player".

Aiming to bounce back from a listless defeat to Senegal, Poland's switch to a 3-4-3 initially appeared to reenergise the Eagles, as an early ball into Robert Lewandowski required some strong defending from both Davinson Sanchez and Mina to thwart the frontman.

Falcao, Colombia's all-time leading scorer with 30 goals, made sure he would stay healthy for this year's World Cup by sitting out several matches with his Monaco club this season.

Playing some scintillating soccer in Kazan, Falcao scored with the outside of his foot in the 70th minute after a superb pass from playmaker Juan Quintero in the back of the defense.

It's a reminder both of Colombia's impressive run in Brazil, with Los Cafeteros nearly knocking out the hosts in the quarterfinal, and Rodriguez's importance to the Colombian national team. The lively Quintero threaded a defence-splitting pass to Falcao, who rolled back the years with a delightful low finish with the outside of his right boot.

Southgate added: 'He probably needs to add goals to his game to become a more complete midfield player I'd say'.

After two defensive lapses against Senegal led to a 2-1 defeat in their opener, the Poles looked second-best by miles all night against Colombia and talismanic striker Lewandowski summed it up with his nonchalant comments after the defeat to Los Cafeteros at the Kazan Arena.

"Our players did their best until the end of the game".

Poland played well for 15 minutes but then faded.

While Poland next game against Japan will be to save their pride, only a win would propel Colombia into the knockout stages.

However, Colombia hit the front five minutes before half-time as James combined well with Cuadrado and Quintero to deliver an inch-perfect cross for Mina to steer a towering header past Wojciech Szczesny.
