Leaked merchandise photos seem to confirm next Assassin's Creed title

"Assassin's Creed Odyssey", the next game in the long-lived action adventure game that puts players in the shoes of a member of an ancient order of assassins, will be shown at E3, Ubisoft announced Thursday night. In the video, we see one character kicking another off a cliff 300-style, so it should be interesting to see how much the game draws from that visually groundbreaking Zack Snyder film. In the trailer, one character kicks another off a cliff in a lovely setting that looks to be placed on the Mediterranean. This year's game is called "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" and will take place in ancient Greece.

Beyond the tweet, information about the title's gameplay mechanics, storyline, and protagonist is scarce.

While a full reveal isn't due until E3 2018, we're already eager to see more from this new outing.

This development has caused numerous game's fans to rejoice. If you recall, there wasn't an Assassin's Creed game released in 2016.

The sources also said that Assassin's Creed: Odyssey would be released before 31 March 2019.

It's the follow-up to Assassin's Creed Origins, which in itself was a soft reboot for the series after fans had grown exhausted of annual releases and repetitive mechanics.

Normally this is where the article would end but I can't stop thinking about the kick in the Assassin's Creed Odyssey clip. It's likely that Assassin's Creed Odyssey will arrive this fall, though, as that's been the series' usual spot on the release calendar.

Today, French games site Jeuxvideo Live (not to be confused with Jeux Video), is reporting that the next game is titled Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and has reiterated some of the details the earlier report revealed.
