James became the 13th athlete in the four major USA professional sports - the NBA, NHL, MLB and National Football League - to make it to eight straight championship series, joining seven Montreal Canadiens players and five former Celtics, according to data compiled by ESPN Stats & Information.

James led the way with a token performance scoring 46 points with 11 rebounds and nine assists.

Elite in all facets of the game, James controlled the tempo and stepped up defensively to stop Boston's young, athletic line-up at TD Garden.

The Cavaliers fought off elimination without Kevin Love, who left in the first quarter after colliding with Tatum. Friday he scored 20 points, his most of the postseason, on 7-of-12 shooting.

It was a superhuman effort by the four-time MVP but the Cavaliers needed everything from him to end Boston's unbeaten home run in the playoffs.

Cleveland led by as many as 16 in the third quarter, but the advantage was down to seven with 2:47 to play when James unleased back-to-back three-pointers and converted a layup to push the Cavs lead back to 109-96.

While the pressure is certainly on LeBron James to get his team the win, he's taking it all in stride.

James took care of the rest.

"'Game seven' is the best two words in sports and for us to be on the road in another hostile environment where we've had no success up to this point, we should relish the opportunity". They're 10-0 on their home floor, and they've been very successful against us, obviously, at home. "This (Boston) team was undefeated in the postseason at home, and for us to be able to do this, and for me to be able to lead these guys, it's a treat". LeBron with 17 points and 10 rebounds already.

George Hill enjoyed his best game of the series for the Cavaliers with 20 points, while reserve Jeff Green chipped in 14 and Larry Nance Jr hit for 10 points.

It was a slow first half for the Cavaliers, who fell victim to an 11-4 Boston run to start the game behind seven quick points from Jayson Tatum. One play can change the whole game, and we just have to be keyed in all of our coverages and all the plays we're running.

"Our goal going into the series was to make him exert as much energy as humanly possible and try to be as good as we can on everybody else", Stevens said.

Love, who banged heads with Tatum while setting a screen, had to be helped to the locker room with 6:58 left in the first period.

"It was asked of me tonight to play the whole game, and I just tried to figure out how I could get through it", James said. He didn't come back, and guys got together and they played. The Rockets host the seventh sport of the West finals on Monday night time. "It doesn't matter what the story line is going to be, it doesn't matter if we're picked to win or not".
