John Toshack says he is hoping Liverpool will lift the Champions League title on Saturday despite thinking Real Madrid will win in Kiev.

The contrast in experience between the sides couldn't be greater as Liverpool return to the final after an 11-year wait with no player in their squad who has previously played in a Champions League final.

Cristiano Ronaldo responded to his worst run of domestic form at Real Madrid with a record-smashing scoring streak in the Champions League and in Saturday's final he can join the club's iconic forward Alfredo di Stefano on five European Cup triumphs.

"We have had now two weeks to prepare that game and everything is clear".

"I'm longer in Liverpool than he is at Real Madrid and he can win the Champions League for a third time. It's another final and we have the same chance of winning it as they do", Zidane told a news conference on Friday.

"Religion is private how I understand it", Klopp said.

Slowed down by a five-game suspension for pushing a referee in the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona back in August, Ronaldo endured a barren spell of only four goals in the first half of the Liga season as Madrid fell way behind runaway leaders and eventual champions Barca.

Not just a first Champions League success, but a first major title in football in his maiden cup final.

Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah during training. "He's shown that this year and he's got a great chance to show that over the next few years as Ronaldo and Messi have done - but the day after tomorrow".

Liverpool have lost their two previous finals under Klopp and Wijnaldum admits it is hurdle they must overcome but feels the general progress being made is equally important.

"I think he is better than both Messi and Ronaldo combined, and if his team were to play Chelsea, I would still support him".

This year's tournament concludes with a match between reigning champions Real Madrid and English side Liverpool.

According to Marca, Bale, who started his career as a rampaging left-back, will be expected to perform a more defensive role in an attempt to nullify the threat of Liverpool's top scorer this season Mohamed Salah.

"Any player who arrived at this club they want to play in these games, they want to be under this kind of pressure, they want to get trophies". He told Onda Cero's El Transistor programme how he started working as Salah's physio: "Mohamed had a couple of fitness problems - quite minor ones but I suggested that he try my dry needling technique, and since then he's been delighted to see his problems go. We want to win the trophy for fans and the club and we're certainly going in the right direction".

Juve were the favourites and we knew that we needed to upgrade our level to go against them and win. "I've had an incredible season in the Champions League", said Ronaldo, who has scored a record 120 goals in the competition overall.
