The asteroid known as 2010 WC9 will pass the Earth Tuesday, May 15 at 3:05 PM Pacific time. In space terms, the space rock is very small, classified as a near-Earth encounter.

This will be the second time in a month that an asteroid has flown this close to Earth.

Astronomers believe the asteroid will safely pass by the Earth without causing any damage.

"The broadcast will be less than 25 minutes in duration, as the asteroid will cross our field of view within that period of time", he added.
