Giuliani says Trump ''d no Comprehension' of Cohen's Business clients

"Novartis believed that Michael Cohen could advise the company as to how the Trump administration might approach certain US healthcare policy matters, including the Affordable Care Act", the company said in a statement to CNBC. Cohen and others were hired to help navigate "a wide range of issues", including its proposed $85 billion merger with Time Warner Inc, CEO Randall Stephenson said in a memo seen by Reuters.

Giuliani joined Trump's outside legal team in April to represent Trump in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible ties to Russian Federation.

Trump frequently railed against the AT&T merger on the campaign trail, calling it bad for the country. But Cohen's hiring has proven to be an embarrassment for AT&T.

The AT&T-Time Warner deal, a so-called "vertical merger" among companies that do not compete, is the kind that has historically enjoyed typical regulatory approval.

Essential Consultants was the same company Cohen used in October 2016 to route money to Daniels in exchange for her agreement not to disclose an alleged affair with Trump.

"One of the things that has made AT&T so effective in their lobbying is that they're not dependent on one person". The company also donated more than $2 million to the committee organizing Trump's inauguration.

The chief lobbyist for AT&T is leaving the company after overseeing a $50,000-per-month contract for President Donald Trump's attorney Michael Cohen to serve as a political consultant.

Cohen was the longtime attorney for Trump and the Trump Organization. He promised to provide advice on who the "key players" would be in Trump's administration and "their priorities and how they think", AT&T said in a fact sheet released Friday. "Here's what needs to happen: Cohen must apologize, pay back his swamp fees and tell us who else he pitched his services to". Both companies said they cooperated fully and consider the matters closed, but that hasn't stopped Avenatti.

She said failure to inform the President, and get his consent, could expose Cohen to the loss of his law licence or other disciplinary measures.

Novartis paid Cohen $1.2 million dollars over twelve months after Cohen pitched his services to the company early in 2017, according to spokesman Eric Althoff.

On Thursday, Novartis Chief Executive Vasant Narasimhan told employees in an email that hiring Mr. Cohen was a mistake and he was frustrated by the arrangement, which was struck under a previous CEO.

The telecommunications company said that it was approached by researchers with Mueller and offered "all info asked in November and December of 20 17".

But Trump had vowed during the 2016 election to stop the merger in his first 100 days in office, and has repeatedly expressed disdain for Time Warner's CNN.

On Tuesday, Avenatti claimed that Cohen received $500,000 from billionaire Vekselberg in the months after the 2016 USA election. Within Time Warner this week, officials were surprised to learn about the contract with Essentials Consulting. "There's a lot of people in Washington who are paid for their advice".
